—4 A mooting of the trustees of the Hurunui I'abbit Board was hold ut Culverden on Saturday. Present—Messrs The®. Chapman (in tho chair), Jas. Douglas, G. 0. Rutherford, and Inspector M\inro. Apologies for absenco v.ero received from Meesrs T. C. Eobin3 and \V. W. Mcßae. Tho chairman reported that, in conjunction with Mr T. C. Robinson and Inspector ilunro, ho had made an examination of the damage caused to the fence by tho encroachment of tho Waiun river at bpotsveood. Tho report was adopted, and it was dccided that the necessary alterations to the fonce be carried out. A discussion ensued relative to . th© fact of tho gates not being clised when traffic passes through between sunset and sunrise, and it was resolved that action be taken against offenders. Tho inspector reported that during th® month, btonyhnret, Cheviot, Balmoral, and the Upper \Vaiau district* were inspected Three owners were interviewed in the Stonyhurst Settlement, on whose property rabb'ts were seen, and poisoning i« to be carried out immediately. One owner in the Cheviot district wac given final notice, and 6cvcrj owr.crs in the, Balmoral district were given no'iico to have work carried out immediately, llabbits were found to be plentiful on four other properties at tho Upper "VVainu, and another inspection of thia district will bo miidn during tho month, to see whether tho neceesarv work ha 3 been carried out.
