SELLING PENSIONS.
* A WARNING TO SOLDIERS. "Information has readied me," said tho Minister of Defence, at Wellington on Saturday, "that a returned soldier with a pension for Jifo had intimated that lie was going to sell his pension for £400 cash. That thoro may be no misunderstanding on a question of this kind. I desire to draw attention to Section 18 of tho War Pensions Act, 1915, which reads: — 'Subject to this Act, a pension shall be absolutely inalienable, whether by way of sale, assignment, charge, execution, insolvency, or otherwise howsoever.' It will thus be seen that it is against the law to sell or assign a pension, and I desire to intimate that the law will bo rigidly enforced."
