GISBORNE FREEZING WORKERS.

V AN UNAUTHORISED STRIKE. (rBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) GISBORNE. March 1. The chambermon at the Kaiti Freezing Works ceased work on Wednesday. Twenty-fire men are involved. The Freezing Workers' Union does not approve of tho men's step, which was taken without th e union being consulted. Tho union is assisting the company to find men to take the strikers placos, and work is being continued without interruption. It is contended that tho men's action brings them within the war regulations. The union was negotiating with the local freezing companies for an increased bonus, and a satisfactory arrangement was arrived at, but in the meantime tho men referred to ceased work.
