+ RED CROSS COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of tho Lyttelton Red Cross Committee was he-Id yesterday, in the Council Chambers, the Mayor (Mr W. X. Lester) preeidirf£. A vote of thanks was accorded the residents of Chorions Bay for the donation of £42 '2s Sd, being the proceeds o[ a feto held at the Bay. It was reported that the sum o£ illtlo 12s 2d wae collected on Friday last at the "Paddy's Market," hold in Norwich quay. The bul-iinee-sheet showed the branch to bo in a sound financial position, the total xc-ccipts being .£2342 2e 4d, and the expenditure £2104 13s 9d. It was decidcd that j£loo should be sent to the Contral Branch to t>e forwarded to the General l!ed Cross i'und in England. THE PICTURES. Lars" crowds attended nil the sessions at the Harbour Light Picture Thcatro yesterday afternoon and evening, when a, special programme was presented in aid of tho prize fund of the Lylttltou District High School. The principal picture was u Mary Pickford til tn, "Tho Poor' Little Rich Girl." The samo iirogramrtio will bo screened this evening. A Russian picture-play, "The 'Angel of" Mercy,"' starring Alic-c Brady, will ucshown to-niorrow. CASUALTY. Tho seaman, William Kelly, who sustained ecriaus injuries bv falling down tho hold of tho Weatporl Coal Co/ii steamer Canopus, oil Wednesday, was removed yesterday from the- Casualty Ward to the Christchurch Hospital, hi 3 condition i slightly improved.
