At. St. Albans park all Li-cd beautifully trim, the sward was in good condition, and tho avenue of - limes, on the eastern boundary, was much admired. The party enjoyed Sr walk over the Bottle Lake reserve /SIS acres), and were astonished at the Lwth shown by the pines which were .planted !a,t winter. It was stated Lt the growth was the best oxper - ciced for any one year. About oO acres were planted last winter, and the "strike" was particularly good. I/in- « wood park and tho old and new nui-se-ries -were next visited. Attention was' drawn to the groat growth made by eomo two-year-old poplar daltoides, which sprung up about ten feot last vear. The value of the tree 6, shrubs and seedlings at tho nursery is estimated at £2048. There are of different kinds of pine 230; 300 two-year ' plants, and 325,000 one-year-old plants; of Lombaptjy poplars, two-year-old, there arc SCOO, and the same number'of poplar daltoides, of deciduous trees (silver hft-ch, alder, oaks, mountain ash horse chestnuts, and limes), 5880 t»ro-vear-old plants, of native trees and "shrubs (matipo, panax laneifolium, cordyline'Mndivisa, and other varieties) 1750; and of <three-ycar-old pines, 152,000. Tho total number of trees and shrubs and seedlings is 719,930. After visiting the new cemetory, off the Canal reserve, ■where shelter belts have been planted, and paths aro being /.laid out, tho party were driven to Victoria park, where, they had lunch. The • Major, in proposing the health of the chairman of the Reserves Committee, referred tp the excellent work dono by tho committee, and by tho city surveyor and the head gardener.
