Mrs Finnis, 538 Madras street, St. Albans, was notified yesterday that Major W. C. Finnis, who was wounded in France last November, had been transferred on tho 13th inst. to the Officers' Convalescent Home, Brighton. Advice has been received in Sumner .that Private E. T. Chitty, of the Signalling Division, has been badly wounded and gassed in France. Private Chitty was well known in -Sumner, where he took a very active interest in football matters:, and was • a prominent player in the Sumner Football Club. Ho is a son-in-law of Mr W. Lawson, of Arnold street, and leaving the borough for active service was i accorded, with eight others, a veiy hearty public send-off in January, 1917. His„mother resides in Stanmore road, Richmond, and his wife and child are at present spending « holiday in Gisborne.
