Tho shin carried 77 passengers and G9 of a crew, tho passengers including a number of officers and soldiers. Dories and lifeboats rescued '2G persons after they had spent the night on tho wreck. Numbers of bodies hare been washed ashore, apparently from the wrecked boats. Other rescues briDg the total saved so far to 40.
