» CUST STOCK SALE. At tlie Oust sale yesterday, abont 1000 fat sheep and lambs were yarded. Prime lambs made -7s Id to 29s 4d, lighter 24s tid to 275, ewes 26s 3d to 31s Gd, and wethers 29s to 31s 6d. In the store pens merino ewes and lambs (all counted) sold at 13s lid. KAIKOUBA SHEEP FAIR. Tlie 26th annual sheep fair was held at Messrs Pyne and Co.'s yards, Kaikoura, last Friday. There was a total yarding of about 25,000. Messrs Dalgety and Co. and the New Zealand Farmers' Co-op. Association participated in the sale. Buyers were present from all over the district, many having come considerable distances. Prices ruled in favour of vendors, and nearly all lots changed hauds under the hammer. l'ync and Co. obtained the following range of prices:—Best two-tcoth thre«quarterbred ewes 31s 6d to 33s 7d, medium 29s to 30s, four, six, eight-toolh • and sound-iiiouth ewes (best) 30s 9d to 23 s l-'d, medium Gd to 295, best failing-mouth ewes 22s to 255, medium 18s to 20s. Fat four-tooth wethers 30s to 31s, forward four and six-tooth wethers 27s 9d to 29s 9d, two-tooth wethers 24s 5d to 25s 6d, fat lambs 24s Gd to 26s Id, forward lambs 19s to 235, others 15s to 18s, small 8s 6d to 13s. Romney ram lambs brought: 2gns. Dalgety and Co. disposed of all stock offered at satisfactory figures, the highest price realised being 37s 9d for a pen of 300 two-tooth halfbred ewes from the Flaxburno district. Prices for other ewes were 28s 7d to 30s, wethers 26s to 29s 9d, ewe lambs 225, mixed, sex lambs los 3d to 18s 9d. ' The New Zealand Farmers' Co-op. Association also had a large yarding, similar prices to those above quoted being obtained. Tho sale was one of the most successful yet held in Kaikoura. ASHBURTON MARKET. Threshing out of stook and stacking was resumed on Friday, after a week's interval on account of the heavy rains. Wheat is reported to havk been sprouted, and in some cases rather badly damaged, and the samples now coming 'to hand from stook-threshing show bad condition, in addition to damaged grains. The supply of milling wheat does not exceed the demand, and deliveries are being made at a slow rate, i Oats.—Offerings are still very limited, and the market is firm. For f.a.q. Algerian lines 3s 4d to 3s od is current value, and 3s Gd for seed lines. Lowgrade samples run from 3s to 3s 2d. Cartons are not yet very much in evidence, And any heavy lines find buyers at 3s Gd to 3s 7d; B grade 3s 4d to 3s od. All quotes on trucks, stations. Chaff.—The demand is hardly as keen as has been tho case for the past two or three weeks, and from 80s to 90s on trucks is current value for samples ready for immediate cutting. CHHtSTCHURCH STOCK.
