NEW RECRUITING SCHEME
(By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received Rebruary 25th, 10.10 p.m.) MELBOURNE, February 25. Mr Hughes lias outlined a new recruiting scheme providing for the appointment of a Royal Commission to decido how many recruits are wanted monthly. An increase in the separation allowance of married men by 33 1-3 per cent. Payment of 4£ per cent, interest on soldiers' deferred pay. Eligibles to be asked to submit their names to a district ballot, and to enlist if drawn to make up the quota for any particular month.
Recruits to bo insured. Bonuses to be paid to recruiting sergeants.
Returned soldiers to replace eligibles whose circumstances do not debar them, but who will not enlist.
