Miss Bristed dived well in the girls' diving competition, but was beaten by Mis s Allen in the dive off. The last race of the meeting, the 22Cyd.=< Boys' Intermediate Championship, nroviied one of the finest contcst.s of the Carnival. Ahlora, tho Aucklacdor, set a merry pace from the tak* off, and touched at 25yds just in front of the field in 15 ]-sth see. Swimming strongly, he had an advantage try at 50yds in 4-sth 6ec from i Harduig, of Wanganui, who was just iu front of Murrell (Wellington) and Low (Canterbury). Sticking to his task in 'good style, Low was only a touch behind Ahlers at 175 yds, while .Murrell was 2yds further back. Racing over tho next length, Low wrested the load from th® Aucklander, and tnrned for tho final 20vds a yard to the good, a lead he maintained to the finish, winning a great raoe in the fast lime of 2min 54 2-stli sec. Ahlei3' time was 2m in 55 2-sth sec, and MurrelPa 2min 59isec. Low's win. was a very popular one, and he received a great ovation from the largo crowd present. Auckland, thanks to the fine swimming of their girls, gained the War Memorial Shield with 40 points. Canterbury being second with 27, Wellington third with 17, and "Wanganui fourth with 5.
