There was a considerable decrease in the offering of fat. lamos, _the total being 2210. as against 5797 last week, fife casing- off in prices last week and the rain that has since taken place no doubt were the reasons for the shorter yarding. The lambs were mostly ot medium qunlitv. The market opened briskly, but eased off to last woek s rates. The range of prices was: Extra prime lambs, to 31s 9d. Prime lambs, 26s to 29t> 7d. FAT SHEEP. There was a moderate yarding of fat sheep, there being only sufficient to fill seven races, as against eight races last week. The quality was mostly prime. There was a keen demand on the part of tho butchcrs, and prices wore above export level at the opening of the sale, but they cased back to last week's level towards the end. The following was the range ot prices:— Woolly wethers, 455. Extra prime wethers, to 40s. Prime wethers, 34s to 33s Id. _ Lighter wethers, 29s 6d to 33s 6d. Merino wethers, 20s 9d to 23s 1.1. A rrood entry of vcalers included a fair proportion of prime heavy sorts, and vorv young calves camo lorwanl in large numbers. There was a keen demand, and a'good sale. Runners made £5 18s to £6, good vealers £4 2s Gd to £o os, fair £2 Is to £3, small and ini'eior 7s to 38a. STORE CATTLE. There was a fair yarding of store cattle, including a tew pens ot 13 months and 24-year sorts, but the bulk of the offering was made up of mixed lots. The sale was dragging, and a number of lots were passed in. Eighteen months heifers made £o 12s Gd to 10s, three-year steers £11 to £11 10s, and dry cows £6 to £9. DAIRY COWS. There was a fair entry of dairy cows, most of which were young, though there were few heifers. There was a keen demand, and prices wcrg high, one cow selling at £20, and pthcr good sorts from £12 upwards, inferior sorts making £7 to £11. j PIGS. Tliere was a good entr ? in the fat pig section, and the demand was fan-. Prices wcro somewhat easier, and ranged as follows: — Choppers, £4 to £6 los. \ Extra heavy baconers to £6 10s. Heavy ..tveoners £o 5s to £s_los. Lighter baconers £4 5s to £o. Equal to 8d to BJd per lb. Heavy porkers £3 10s"' to £3 16s. Lighter workers £2 15s to £3 lo«Equal to"9id to lOd per lb.
