' An interesting point was raised in ® the Magistrate's Court to-day, when Margaret Skipworth, a local boarding--1 house-keepor, was charged with perl mitting liquor to be consumed on ler ■ premises when .licensed premises were required by law to be closed. . The police evidence was that they , raided tho boarding-houso at 8.15 p.m. i and found drinking in progress anion;* the boarders. Tho police suggested ■ tlint a boarding-house was a restatirant within the meaning of the Sale of Lupio'r Restriction Act of last session. Mr Barton, S.M., said the point was a far-reaching one, and reserved lis decision. On a further charge of sly-grog soiling, defendant was fined £30, or six weeks' imprisonment. The evidence disclosed that she purchased 52 dozen quart bottles of beer betwoen December Ist arid' February Ist.
