POSITION OF BAR-TENDERS. ,(press association telegram.) WELLINGTON, February 19.' A deputation from the Hotel Workers' Union waited on the Attorneyj General to-day with reference to the anti-shouting regulations as affecting bar-tenders. The regulations, it was pointed out, carried a maximum penalty of £100, and prevented subsequent, employment on licensed premises. The regulations also threw the onus of proof oil' tbo defendant. Tho deputation asked that the maximum penalty be reduced to £10, and that the disqualification provision be struck out. Sir Francis Bell said ho could only, prorniso that ho would'consider tho matter, and if lie were satisfied that there was cause lor the statoment that the Togulations are unduly harsh,_ he would bring the matter before Cabinet, with a recommendation for mitigation.
