LORD PLUISKET.

AVAR CONTINGENT ASSOCIATION AFFAIRS.

(from orn own* correspondent.)

LONDON, August 25.

JVith reference to Lord Plunkct's resignation of the office of chairman of the executive of the New Zealand War Contingent Association, a leading member of the executive of the Association, in response to my request, writes: — '•Lord Plunkct's resignation as chairman of the executive came somewhat as a surprise. It was known for some time past that he felt far from happy at the relations with tho military and medical authorities, and when recently* a eurn of £51)00 was appliod for, and autnority was received trom the Dominion, to hand that sum over to the military, those responsible for running ! the cohorts department of the N.Z.W.O.A. naturally wondered how much was going to bo left for their cl±i- | cient organisation to do. , I "The lact that the New Zealand Red j Cross had a representative here, and j the larger proportion of the funds of tho j N.Z.W.C.A. wore supplied from the | New Zealand' Red Cross Society, rather tended to complicato tho situation, besides which other factors arose, and tho situation became one of some difficulty. Lord Pluakot had worked on such very friendly torms with the chairmen of the various committors and tho staff, that all fee) very keenly his severance from the position he had occupied sinco tho inception of the Association. Tho unanimous choice of the executive fell on Mr I. AV. Raymond, who had been chairman of the Hospitality Committor for three yoare. The nomination was mado by Sir James Mills and Mr James Coatos, Sir Thomas Mackenzie being in the chair. "With this change there will be a reconstruction in tho work of the organisation, which will possibly tend to bring the military and the organisation into' a more perfect understanding."
