General entries for the Canterbury Jockey Club's Metropolitan Meeting, r.cceptances for the Stewards' Handicap, further payments for tho NewZealand Cup, and forfeits for the Welcome Stakes, New Zealaud Derby, and New Zealand Oaks Stakes, which were to have been taken last evening, have been postponed until noon to-dnv.

Fisher Plato. Tho Comedy King colt will not be a starter in the Melbourne Cup, as his owner put tho pen through his horse's name betore leaving for homo. As soon as the. Melbourne Cup Mooting is over, It. J. Mason will leave for Auckland with Biplane, his principal mission being the Great Northern Derby. Afterwards tho colt will oomc South, and perhaps run in soni9 classic races, but there is a possibility that he may be taken back to Australia in the autumn, although lie is not ongagod in tho A.J.C. St. Leger. Tho Victoria Amateur Turf Ciub's Spring Sleeting will bo brought to a conclusion at Caulfield to-day, when the principal attraction will be the Cauliield Cup.
Tho Wellington Racing Club's Spring Meeting, which opens to-day, will attract a great deal of interest, as sixteen New Zealand Cup candidates figure in various events on tho programme. Of this number Colonel Boult, Menelans, Multiply, Tcka, Cleft, Orleans, Trials, Midnight Star, Paraoa, and Rose Pink are engaged in the Wellington Handicap, the principal event, success in which will mean a penalty for the New Zealand Cup.

A number of local trainers, with horses engaged at tho Oamaru Meeting on Monday, left for the South yesterday.
Trooper Dillon will not be a starter at Qarnaru 0 n Labour Day. Mr W. Black will start the.trotting events at Rangiora on Monday. The Spring Meeting of the Otahuhu Trotting Club will bo held to-day. Good acceptances have been received, and some interesting racing should be witnessed. M. Edwards has Irvingwood, Leo Bell, Vermilion, and Calton racing, and a win may come his way. Dolly Spanker, the four-year-old mare by Harold Dillon from Lucky Mount, and her three-year-old sister, will be submitted to auction to-day at Tattorsall's Horse Bazaar. x
Tho "Mataura Ensign" reports that Matchliglit broko down the otiier morning and is not likely to be a starter for the New Zealand Trotting Cup, for which event ho has already been supported by a number of southern admirers.
The trotting siro Driftwood, who has had a number of winners on the race track, was successfully represented in tho show ring at Leeston on Thursday, when his three-year-old, Drifting Spec, won his class in tho trotting section. He is a good-looking young liorse, with excellent prospects of doing well as a racehorse later on.
