Miss Reeve's great hold oh theatregoers is attributed to her personality and magnetism. "For oloso on an hour," said ono New Zealand critic recently, "the popular eomedienno held her audience in tho hollow of her hands." Her gallery of triumphs includes "Knickerbockers." "Experience," "They Do," "Nobody Knows, Nobody Cares," "What a Lady," "Tho Oriental Girl," "Ain't He, Jim," "Order, Please/' "The Sailor and the Cockatoo," "Tennessee," "The Long, Long Trail,'' and "The Picture Girls Eye 3." These rango from pathos to very eccentric humour. Miss Reeve is supported by a combination . of vaudeville artists, including Louis Nikola, magician, whoso shadowgraphs of notable men of the hopr are a feature of bis ";turn." .uMiss Lucie Linda is said jto. be a dancer of exceptional ability. 'Mr. Frank Markle.v is a banjo expert, and Mr Kennedy Allen is a -well-known comedian. Mr Harry Jacobs, the singing conductor, gives a. rather unique entertainment, and the new English Comedy Company appear in a humorous farce, "A Matter of Business."
HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Tho vaudevillo and revue programme was repeated to a large audienco at His Majesty's Theatre last evening. Tho Belldays, who appeared for the last time, were vers- well received. At this afternoon's matinee Alitonio and Kitty Molinan will make a reappearance, and will be heard in classical duets. On Monday a fine bass singer, Malcolm MeEachern, will make a first appearance. Ho has been remarkably well rccoived in the capital city during the past threo weeks. New items will bo proscnted by Tom Rees (musician and raconteur), Milner and Storey (sketch artists), and Jolly John Larkin (coon comedian). The Bates llevue Company will stago their fourth production. "In Mexico." A special matinee performance will bo given on Monday afternoon.
ORCHESTRAL CONCERT. The third concert of tho Christchurch Orchestral Society's 1917 season will bo given on Wednesday next, at . the Choral Hall. Tne programme will include orchestral numbers:—Overture, "Oberon" (Weber), suito "Othello" (Coleridge-Taylor), "Praludium" (Jarnefelt), "Carissima'' (Elgar), and march, "La Reine de Saba" (Gounod). The soloists will be Mrs John Fraser (vocalist), and Mr C. Schilsliy (violinist). Mrs Fraser will give tho recitative and aria, "Piiino, piano, canto pio" (Weber), songs, "Pleading" (Elgar) and "A "Spirit Flower" (Campbell-Tipton). Mr Scliilsky (who is the examiner for Trinity College) will play "Romance in F" (Beethoven), with orchestral accompaniment. Owing to Monday (Labour Day) being observed by a holiday, tho box plan will not open until Tuesday, at 9 u.nv
OVERSEAS CLUB. A lantern lecture will be delivered by Professor J. Macmillan Brown, under the auspices of the Overseas Club, on Tuesday next, at the Caledonian Hall, Worcester street. The Professor will deal with his trip through Polynesia, and the lecture will be entitled, "French Oceania and the Pacific Ocean." Musical items will bo contributed by the Lyric Orchestra, and songs by Miss Dorothy Nottingham and Mr J. Cocks. Mrs Cocks, will act as accompanist. Mr George Harper, vice-president, will bo in tho chair.
"A ROYAL FUGITIVE.-' '"A Royal Fugitive,'' a charming old English play—pastoral, musical, and picturesque—will be presented by Miss Lucy Cowan's Juvenile Entertainers on Thursday. November loth, in the Opera House.
J. C Williamson's Royal Comic Opera Company, which has been held up in Sydney for some timo on account i.f the .strike, will commence its New Zealand season at Wellington on Wednesday evening noxt.
