An incident worth recording as showing the injustice of hasty judgments occurred recently near Palmerston North (says the "Standard"). As a party of recruits were resting on a roadside a cyclist in mufti cycled past to tho nccompaniment of a few sarcastic remarks such as "He's got cold feet," "He's married, and ho won't go to the front," and other pleasantries. The cyclist who passed without remark, was a Main Body man, and served with the New Zealand artillery, and was a member of a gun team among whom a Turkish shell fell at Gallipoli, killing one man outright and severely wounaing the others, the soldier in question losing a leg. He has, however, been fitted with an artificial limb, and, thanks to modern mechanical appliances, is able to walk or cycle like a normal individual. The point of tho story lies in the fact that it would be well for those who havo just donned khaki to refrain from such criticism until they know their man.
