The Christcharch Musical Society will give a miscellaneous concert in the Choral TI nil on oOcii iusl. Tho soloist.; will he Miss Cecil Audibert, Miss Dorothy Nottingham, Miss Gladys Vincent, Mrs V. Livingstone, Mr 11. Gill, and Mr A. Hutton. The tox plans will be opened en Monday next at Milner ar.d Thompson's. ORCHESTRA], CONCERT. Tlie Chris teimrch Orchestral Society's second concert ol the Ii)17 season will be held on Wednesday next at the Choral ilall. The orchestral items will include: Overture, i igaro (.Mozart), Suite, Language of Uie Flowers (Co.vcn), iso. (J Symphony (Haydn), Slav March (De Ilecder), and ati Entr'acte, Consande, cumposed by Mr R. A. Home, of Christchurch. Tho soloists will be Miss Muriel Littlo and Mr Hugh Hobbs. Miss Little will stng Minncleid (Brahms), La Moulin (Pierno), Jionne Hunieur (Chaminade), ar.d will play piano solo Scherso from F Minor Sonata (Brahms). Mr Hugh Hobbs will sing "Before the Dawn" (Lang) and "Salaam" (Lang). The accompanist will be Mrs Alma Carey. The Society have made arrangements for adequate heating of the Choral Hall for the concert. Half of the en si proceeds of tho concert will be handed to the Lady Liverpool Trench Comforts Fund. Tickets are being sold rt 2s each. Owing to the illness of ;>lr A. J. T»unz. the Society's conductor. Mr AV. S. King will take tho baton for tho concert. The box plan of reserved scats will be opened at The Bristol on Monday, at 9 a.m.
THE NEW DANDIES. Mr Edward Branscombe's merry entertainers, "The Dandies," make their annual appearance with consistent .e----gularity. The latest company is announced as "The New Dandies," who will corr.menco. a short season in the Theatre Royal next Saturday evening. The artists in the combination include Miss Linda Bradford, a contralto who gained popular favour with the Orangvs Company when tliev appeared locally three years ago. Another member of the same company to make a re-ap-pearance is Mr Andrew Pace, a light comedian. Among the remaining 'performers are: Miss Dorothy Manning, soprano; Miss Ivy Davis, soubrette; Mr W. Liddle, baritone; Mr Harry Graham and Mr Courtney Ford, comedians ; and Mr Philip Jlardman, pianist. "Tile New Dandies" are at present conducting a tour of the North Island, where it has been said that •'lie coterie of artists constitutes one of the most versatile combinations vet. presented by Mr Brarscombe. The box plan opens at The Bristol on Wednesday morning. SKATING RINK. Skaters are looking forward to next Wednesday and Thursday , evenings when they will have an opportunity of participating in tho great carnival at tho Colosseum Rink. Arrangements have been made for special lighting effects to make tho interior of the rink as bright as daylight. A moving picture is to be takon of tho carnival each evening. Substantial prizes arc being offered for the races and tho many novelty events. No espouse is being spared to make the whoie carnival an unqualified success. Intending lookerson are advised to book their seats oarly at the Theatre Roval confectionery shop.
