Tho Oxford County Council met on Tuesday. Present—Messrs A. Butter, jun. (chairman), H. Campbell, I). Hawfce, J. McC'ormack. and J. Wells. It was resolved that the grading of the Carlton-Ashiey Gorge road bo completed. It was -decided to see what improvement could be made at Constable's comer, on the Ashley Gorge road also to cover more water race fords and to blind tJve ahinglo on the Bexley load. It was resolved that a travelling wtiaro be provided for the teamster, and that the horses be paddocked at night (by permission) when woriong beyond three or four miles ot home, also that tho teamster Iteep a diary for entering up cach day's work. Mees:e Askew and Jones asked tho Council to supply them with wire netting for a bolster in the River £y? e - „PV> application was granted on condition that the foreman was satisfied that tho bolster would prove effectual. It was resolved that tho cross be cleared from Hendersons ditch, on Stubb's road, as soon as Mr Henderson grubbed tho gorae It was resolved to support the proposal of the Eketahuna, County Council to urge the Government to erect cold storage at the four mam centres for surplus meat and dairv produce, so that produco might be shipped regularly aJI tlje year round. Begardine the circular letter from the National Efficiency Board as to reduction of works during the war so thafmen might bo available fox other purposes, it was resolved to comply as far as possible. Regarding commemoration of Anzac Day, it was resolved to invite ministers of religion to hold a combined service in Pearson Park in the afternoon, to invito returned soldiers to bo present, and to take ud a collection in aid of the Red Cross Association. Accounts amounting to £169 8a 9d were passed for payment.
