THE FALLEN AND WOUNDED.

PERSONAL NOTES. The parents of Private F. W. Corrigan, 130 Holly road, who left with the sth Reinforcements, have received official advice that their son has been admitted to the Brockenhurst Hospital, England, seriously ill. Private Corrigan saw much active service in Galliipoli and France, and came througjb. the Somme battle, although in front line of trenches, "without injury. News has been received by Mr A. Weaver, of the Mead, of the death of hifl son, Private W. Weaver, killed in action on the Somme on March 23rd. Private Weaver enlisted with the 16th Reinforcements, and while in training secured a prize for th© best shot in the Sixteenths. Be spent about three weeks in England, arid had been in the' firing-line only a short time when he was Killed, lit England he was transferred, to the Rifle Brigade. Ho was only nineteen years of age, and had one brother in the 3rd Reinforcements, invalided from Gallipoli, while anotiher is at present a trooper in the Imperial Camel Corps on Egyptian service.

The funeral of the late Private Hoani .Reuben, of the Pioneer Regiment, took place at Tuahiwi on Wednesday afternoon. Private Reuben had been invalided home in December. It was hoped that his native air might help him to renewed health, but 2ie gradually failed, and pas6ed ; away on Easter Day. The burial service was road in the St. Stephen's Church, in the pa by Chaplain-Major C. A- Fraer, who spoke in glowing terms of deceased's righteousness and devotion. The funeral, being a military one, was attended by a firing party from Rangiom, under Lieut. Sisippington, and at tho grave-side they paid tlhe usual last tribute to their deported comrade. In such respect and high esteem was the lad held by both pakeha and Maori alike that the funeral procession was one of the largest seen m the district for some time.

Advipo has heen received by mail of tho death at the front of Sergeant James Murphy, who wag foreman for the Public Works Department at Patutahi quarry prior to his enlistment in the Ist Engineers' Tunnelling Corps. Sergeant Murphy was very seriously wounded in the passageway of his billet by a fragment of a German high explosive snell. His parents reside in Wellington.

Lieut. Leslio Wallace (son of Mr D, B. Wallace, of Hokianga, and nephew of Mr T. R. Wallace, of Wellington, secretary of the Marino Engineers' Institute), has been invalided to a Frendh hospital suffering from gas poisoning. Lieut. Wallaco has served with the artillery since tho outbreak of tho war, and this is the first mishap that has befallen him. Whop the war broke out Lieut. Wallaco was. studying electricity at Glasgow University.

Mr J. J. Armitago, Rolleston street, Lin wood, received word yesterday from tho Baso Records Office, Wellington, that his son, Lieut. R. G. Armitage, who was recently reported to have been sent into a hospital in Franco suffering from pneumonia, was transferred to a baso depot in France on February 16th.
