SEAMEN'S INSTITUTE. At a meeting of members of tlio church Branch of tlic Ladies Guild of the Seamen's Institute, hold on Mrs Blunt presiding, it was decided to liold o, garden party on Saturday, April 28th, in aid of funds for the eocial work at the Institute. Mrs S K Webb. of Normans road. 1 apanui, kindly offered her grounds for the purpose, PHILLIPSTOWN KINDERGARTEN. The Pliillipstown Kindergarten Committee met last, Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Mams presiding. The headmistress (Mies Willis) reported the number on the roll to 60, the highest* attendance being oJ, the 28, and. the average -18. It wn« reported that Mrs Archbold had sent another locltmg-horse to the school, and three tablecloths were received per Mrs "Williams. The treasurer reported that the subscriptions for the month amounted to £1 35s sd. The committee acknowledge parcels of material from the fol lowing iirnis:—D.T.C., Beath and C°., Farmers' Co-op., Strange and Co.. and bills. Mirs McCatislaitd and Miss Pa.tcrson wcro oppointed the Visiting Committee for the ensuing month. BKCKENHAM SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of tho Beckcnliam School Committee was held on lucsday evening. Present—Messrs }\. C {l ar (chairman), Peck, Pappnll. 'J.a bot Bullen. McAllistcr. and Carlisle (secretary). I'ull arrangement.3 were made in connexion with 'the roll of honour board which is to be -unveiled at the annual mooting of householders on April 30th. The commlttoo will b* pleased to receivc the full name and ran.: of any residents who have, or are serving under t.he colouts. Mr A. C- Maxwell (headmaster) stated that details in connexion with the concert which is to bo held on May 3rd were well in hand. Owinj to tho continued growth of the school, Mr Maxwoil brought forward tho question of an extra class room, and as the matter is of necessity tho committee decided to approach the Education- Board.
