| NO. 2 DIVISIONAL .SIGNAL COMPANY. Hie No. 2 Divisional Signal Company (N.Z.1',.) is at present in camp iat Kaituna, -with a strength of 44 all i anks. Good work is being done" over the hills surrounding the locality. On Easter Monday a parade was ordered lor 6.30 a.m., and the company divided into three detachments as follows No. 1 was a field cable detachment, with -hree miles of wire; No". 2, a packhorse detachment with two miles of wjre; and No. 3, a hand cable detachment wjtii two miles of wire. The 'scheme lor the dav was to establish communication between the highest ]>eak of M.t. Herbert and the camp. The distance is approximately six milesj and each detachment Lad its own section allotted. Ihe time for commencing was arranged so that all would be complete at approximately the game time, and at 10. wO a.m. the telephone station on the extreme top of Mt. Herbert reported through, to the camp that is was ready to receive and send messages. Tho actual time taken in completing the work was hours. Connexion was then made with the Kaituna telephone bureau, through which the station on the top of Alt. Herbert was able to communicate with "The Press"' office. This was a record performance, and considering the rough nature of tho country it serred to illustrate what a body of keen men can accomplish when they set their minds on their work.
