Dr. C. L. Nedwill returned to Christchurch from the South yesterday.

Agric., who for the last four and a-half years has been with tho local branch of Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., was the recipiont of a rug and fountain-pen prior to his leaving the firm's employ to take up a position with the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association.

Mrs Verne Hargreaves, of AVeston road, has received advice from London that the narao of her brother. SecondLieutenant Norman Cunningham, of tho lloyal Field Artillery, has appeared in the New Year's Honours List as mentioned in despatches for distinguished field servicc (in tho battles of Comblcs and Morval). Lieutenant Cunningham is the youngest son of the lato Mr Peter Cunningham, of Merivale. All Mr Cunningham's sons have enlisted. One has been in Gallipolj, one in Mesopotamia, and one in France. Miss Cunningham is doing war work in England. She has been for the last year a forewoman in Woolwich Arsenal.
