HARBOUR BOARD ELECTION.

THE NOMINATIONS,

I Nominations closed yesterday for the suburban and rural scats on tbe Lyttelton Harbour Board. With respcct to the combined district of New Brighton, Sumner, Woolston, Lyttel.ton, and Akaroa and the counties of Wairewa and Mount Herbert, which returns one member, tbe Keturning Otliccr, Mr W. J. Caultield, Town Clerk of W oolston, had received no nominations up to tlie time prescribed for tlieir .receipt. i.ir J. J. Graiuim represented tins district on tho old Board, and it was understood that lie intended to be a candidate. • Jj'or the combined district comprising the borough of Spreydon and tho counties of Paparua, Tawcra, Malvern, Sei'wyn, Ellesmere, Springs, and Heatucote (two members), only the required number of nominations was received, and Messrs T. D. Boag and James Storry (who previously represented this combined district) have been declared elected. An election will be necessary to select one member to represent the combined district of Waimairi county and lliccarton borough. The nominations received by Mr R. J. Sharpe, the Returning Officer, are those of Messrs J. J. Dougall aud W. J. Walter. Messrs Hugo Friedlander and H. F. Nicroll, the present representatives on tho Lyttelton Harbour Board for tho Ashburton county, have been re-nomin-ated, and Mr Thomas Blackley, of Rakaia, is tho other nominee. The election will take placo on April 25th. Tho only' nomination received for a member to represent- the combined, districts of the boronghs of Kaiapoi and Rangiora. and the counties of Rangiora, Eyre, and Oxford, Tj'aa that of the Hon. R-. ZSmore. M.L.C., and he has been declared duly elected.

The election of members of the Harbour Board will be held on tbe same day as tho municipal elections—2sth inst.
