Tho fifth annual prize firing meeting of the Canterbury Military District Rifle Association was commcnced on the Redciiffs line range on Saturday morning. The entries received for the day were well oyer tho average, those from Cadets constituting record. Tho total entries received numbered '268, comprising Permanent Staff und Rifle Clubs 63, Cadets 145. and Territorial 60. This ■totals 100 moro than last. year. The programme for tlie day comprises tho A series, which was open to competitors ' in the Canterbury Military District and compulsory to all Canterbury in "B" series under 30 years of age. The South Island championship is fired for at the meeting, and will be decided on Tuesday.
