RAKAIA ROAD BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the South Rakaia Read Board v.-;.a held on Timraday. Present—Messrs H. -f. Harrison (chairman), A. J. and A. Drumniond. An for absence was-received from Mr Lambie. The clerk (Mr L. Oxiey) reported that work had bean done on the following' roads : — Chertsey-Mcthven: Muin and South roads, Thomnion'e Track, anl the llaliaia. Township. He had not yet been able to make arrangements tor a ca.retakev for the cemetciy. He "suggested that, in view of ihe expccted •shortage of coal, the Hoard should have h supply of firewood carted. This suggestion v.'iia* agreed to. The suinp on the Mount Ilutt boundary ro:id had been tilled up with bouldei-3 and shingle, nr.d also the one in iSowen street. They should still take ordinary storm water, but not overflow from the race. He suggested thul the ratepayers' iumual meeting l>e held ut' noon on May 3rd, after the usual monthly meeting and the unnual election on Monday, May 7th. A letter was read from the Department of Internal Affairs regarding obaervanoe of Anzac Day. It was decided to take no action in tho matter. Letters were rc;id from the Ministef of Labour notifying Wedn:-aday na the eiatut.irs- day for the half-holiday in Rakaia: from the Mount Hutt Road Board enclosing, a cheq-ae for £20 2s' Gd as its share of the upkeep of the boundary road; aJid from John McCoy notifying a transfer of a section to Edwin l'ox. I It was decided to call a. public meeting on I March IOUi, at 3 p.m., to consider the apI pointment of trustees, for soldiers' farms and to assist the Efficiency Boajd.
