LE BON'S BAY.
Mr W. G. Dalgisli presided at the Road Board's meeting last Saturday. In accordanco with tho Minister's ■wishes it was resolved to recognise April 23rd as Auzac Day. Members complained of tlio practice of somo motorists in leaving large stones on the Summit road and somo of tlio main roads. These arc used on the hills for blocking tlio cars during repairs or inflation of tyres; and arc very often left, constituting a danger to wheel traffic, especially at'night. It was.resolved to draw tho Council's attention to this. The members of the Board wero formed into a committee to assist tho Banks Peninsula Patriotic Association in tho furtherance of its aims. Tlio clerk reported that all the ratos for 1916-17 had been collected, and as funds now permitted it was resolved to wipe off tho balaneo of tho Akaroa. County Council's crushing account— £266 15s lOd. The annual school treat was hold in beautiful weather, and attended* by a largo number of residents and visitor.*. A lengthy programme of events was gone through, and tho luncheon and afternoon tea provided by the parents was much enjoyed. A social in the evening was well patronised, and contributed considerably to tlio prize fund. Tho long spell of dry, bright weather has had the effect of drying tho pastures. After the last spell of rain a month ago, most graziers were of opinion that the winter's feed was assured. Although large numbers of lambs, sheep, and cattle" have lately been sold, the shortage is being felt, and prospective buyers remain undecided owing to present prospects.
