Sir, —In reference to the lease of His Majesty's Theatre, Christchurch, which lias recently been acquired by Fuller's Theatres and Vaudeville, Ltd., in alato issuo of your esteemed journal tho Mayor is reported as having stated that: "The offer which tho Canterbury Hall Company had accepted for a ten. years' lease of the hall was made before tho negotiations •with the City Council were opened, and rendered it necessary that the poll should bo takon beforo waiting till after tho municipal elections v.ore over." | So as to clear up any misunderstand- ' ing there may be on this point, I should like to' say that this statement j is not strictly in accordant® with tho : facts, and not anticipating for ono mo- ! mcnt thai tho citizens of Chmtchurch 1 would decline tho magnificent offer made by the Canterbury flail Company, ■ v:o did not think it advi&ablo to pro- i coed with negotiations with tho directors of the Canterbury Hall Company, and .a move in this direction was not actually mado until two -weeks after j the poll had been taken.—Yours, etc., WALTER FULLER.
