SEVEN SOLDIER SONS. Splendid as has been the rccord of 'tho fighting families who havo bcon sent out from New Zealand to fight for the Empire and the cause of international righteousness, all instances yet recorded aro eclipsed by one which came under the notice of a reporter on Tuesday (says the Auckland "Herald"). The household of Mr J. H. Sales, of To Lara - North, Whangaroa Harbour, has provided not less than seven sol- j diers for tho army, while an eighth j offered his serv ices, but was obliged to i stay at homo owing to medical unfit- j liess. Six of the young men left New ' Zealand in on© reinforcement draft. Tho names of the eight are: Alfred, Joseph, Arthur, Edward, James, Albert, Frederick, and Charles Saies. Alfred Saies was killed in action on September 16th, 191tj. Albert aiid Frederick Saies have returned with . honourable wounds, and been discharged. Joseph, Arthur, Edward, and James Saies are still fighting in France. Charles Saies is tHe man who was debarred from following th© ■patriotic example of his brothers through a physical defect.
