In view of the German Press statements regarding the Central Powers' efforts in the direction of peace, the Imperial gathering at German Headquarters is significant. The most prevalent belief is that Austria is bringing pressure to bear upon Germany to end a struggle which is threatening to bring ruin upon the respective countries and endanger the dynasties. AMSTERDAM. April 3. The "Vorwaerts" asserts that the Central Powers are again making an effort to secure an honourable peace. The "Lokal Anzeiger" emphasisos Germany's peaceful intentions towards Russia. The "Berlinger Tageblatt'' demands an energetic reorganisation of internal affairs in order to facilitate peace. THEIR HOUSE IN <t)RDER. SOCIAL REFORMS AS BASIS OP PEACE. WASHINGTON, April 3. It is understood by the State Department, which is believed to have private advices, that Germany's new peace offer is based on universal manhood suffrage in Germany with the Cabinet responsible to Parliameht. POPE'S AID SOUGHT. ROME, April 3. It is reported that the Austrian and German bishops are appealing to the Pope asking his energetic intervention in favour of peace.
