Pcronilla, British Rose, Leading Lady, Recorder. NOTES. T. G. Fox has purchased Hotlianjc, who was recently trainctl at Ashburton and ownod bv R. McDonncll. Tho son of Rothschild and Brittanie is undoubtedly endowed with a lot of speed, and may prove a profitable investment for liis nc.v owner Brown's Nugget (wbo has recently been sold to go to Auckland) left for his new homo on Tnesday evening. Another largo contingent of horses may be expected to journey to the "West Coast meetings at Christmas time. Several owners and trainers have already notified their intention of making the trip. Black Erie, who broke down so badly at the Metropolitan T.C.'s Spring Meeting, lias (according to Sydney reports) a race record hard to beat," namely, fourteen wins out of sixteen starts. It is to be hoped the speedy Australian makes a good recovery, and yet prove himself shores. Mr .G. A. Duncan has disposed of King's Lynn. When the above gentleman bought the horse in Augustslast. at Tattersall's. the- terms of the sale read that the purchaser had to pay £30 out of his first two wins. Mr Duncan, when soiling King's Lynn, still attached the nccc.ssar.v contingency, but as the horse's present owner intends usiiiK him for utility mirposos, it. looks as though his original owner will liavo to wait a long time for his share.
A Sydney message savs that Kasanof's Melbourne C'nj> victory has aroused discussion .is to the conditions of tbb rpce, spine considering that the-whole Question of handicapping three-year-olds should be revised, pointing out thiit if n. three-year-old is capable of winning sit weigh r-for-age and is handicapped below that scale in the C'up, the weight should be readjusted. Rasanof was handicapped at 6st 1 111* in the Cup, nil> less than the weight-for-age scale. He carried 6st 121b, including one pound overweight. ■ A month earlier ho won the Spring Stakes at weight-for-age. carrying 7st 41b.
