Mrs "Williams presided. • The headmistress (Mies Willis) reported the roll number to bo 65, highest attendance 59. lowest attendance 17. average 51.6. Tiie treasurer reported that school subscriptions -amounted to £3 12s 6d. It was agreed to ke.'p pn the sweat stall' io be held on "Kindergarten Day." early in December. EAST CHRTSTCHURCH SCHOOL COMMITTEE.-
At a meeting of t-he- East Christchurch District School Committee there were' present— Messrs A. PevcKll' (acting-chairman), Griimmitt, AUard. and. Harvey. An apology, was received for the absence. of the chairman, and' Mr F. B. Sapsford. Tho acting-headmaster reported that the average attendance since last report- had been 614. and tbe roll number 662. Miss Menziea 6tated that ainco last report the average at the Main Infante' School had bco.l SIC, while Mi«« Robinson advised that the average at Phulipstown had been 352.
McLEA.N INSTITUTE. "A meeting of the McLean Institute -was held yesterday afk-rnoon. Present—The flavor (Mr H. Holland), Mesdarnes A. C. Sandston and. J. H. "Wilson, Bishop Brodiei, Rev. A. T. Thompson, Messrs G'. Harper And F. Horrell. The chairman reported that thero had been some trouble with a large tank in the grounds of Holly Lea, and in conjunction with Mr Harper, ho had ordered the motor pump to be repaired. The action of the chairman was approved.' > It was decided that no connexion be allowed between the fire supply water tank and the water for drinking purposes. Accounts amounting to jCSOO 10s were passed for parmen t.
LIXWOOD CITIZENS' ASSOCIATION'. At a meeting of the Liawood Citizens' Association, ilr W. Ellison presiding over a, good attendance, the secretary reported hnvins interviewed the secretary of the Drainage Board in rcspect of the great increase for the current year of the drainage rate on the rural areas. Tlio increase, was due to several extensive works in the Tural area having been taken in hand this year by the Board. The rate for last }"<*r had "been merely nominal, as few works wc;e carried out. ' The Association's efforts in respect to the erection of a tramway shelter in the Square for Linwocd cars had been successful in so far that the City Council and Tramway Board had agreed to the erection of the shelter. Dr. Chesson, District Health Officer, wrote ill respect oI thj pig-trough drain running from the pumping station over Aldwin's road, and it wa6 decided that a denutation from tlio Association should wait o:i Dr. Chesson regarding the matter.
