Wednesday came from n member of your staff 'l have very much pleasure in enclosing to you a cheque for the amount then colkctod. viz., £.39, and shall be rbiigpd if you will in due course pass it on to the Patriotic Fund. This magnificent response, especially as there was no preliminary announcement of the collection, is a striking example of the warmth and reality of tho patriotism of Christchurch citizens, and it is equally gratifying to al] admirers of Kipling. May I take this opportunity of Btatnrijj that I , shall again have "the pleasure of reciting these verses next Sunday ex'ening, 16th inst., at a public mooting convened u~ his Worship the Mayor, at His Majesty's Theatre.—Believe mo, faithfully yours, ALEXANDER WATSON. August 14th.
