August 14. • An outburst of ungovernable temper last night, because ho could not get to the war, resulted in a young Territorial named Edward Charles Stuart, u-ged 19 years, getting into the hands of the police. He had been told by tho authorities that if he got his parents' conseut he c-juld go into camp, but when he got to his home at Mt. Eden bis mother refuser! to ;.rire her consent, and the young fellow gave way to an excess of rago. ''He ran his bayonet through a large photo, stabbed the piano with the weapon, and drove the steel through the bathroom door, and threatened to shot the whole family." stated Sub-Inspector Johnston when Stuart was brought before Mr F. V. Frazer, 5.M.," on ■ a charge of having done damage to the piano and the photo After Stuart had flUng out of the house in a rage and in his uniform, his mother decided to teach him ,a lessoa m self-control, and infoi-med the police, with tho result that the lad was arrested down the street. "
In a sullen manner. Stuart this morning said that he had lost his head because he had been baulked of his desire to go to the war by his mother refusing her consent.
Ho was remanded for a week for medical observation.
