(SPECIAL TO "THE rRKSS.")
WELLINGTON, August 14
The fact that the operation of the Defence Act, so far: as the training of Territorials is concerned, is suspended in the Waiapu district, was referred to in the House this evening by Mr W. D. S. Mac Donald. He said that a large nnmber of men in the district were anxious to go in for some form of training. The Natives in the district were willing to give the necessary ground for a training camn- It was owing to the scattered and isolated position of the district that the Act had been suspended. The Minister of Defence said that this was not the only district in this position. He would be glad to look into the matter.
