Wo are told to-day that t-bcro is no reassurance in connexion with shipping in the North Sea, where formidable operations aro proceeding. This may mean anything or nothing. If our battle-squadrons aro at deadly grips with tho enemy, we look forward with tho greatest confidence as to tho result. All over tho world German shipping, aimed and unarmed, is being harassed and driven from tho ocean. The ' 'convoy" system of escorting groups of our merchantmen from port to r>ort, which has always been employed in previous naval wars, has been abandoned. Tho method of hunting and running the enemy's cruisers to earth, whilo our trade goes on, has been adopted. Are our enemies on tho ocean pleased or otherwise at this sporting action of their opponents?
