OBITUARY.
Mr Hichael O'Ealloran, who was buried in the Northern Cometory, ]>unodin'j' on Thursday, was for many tmib ohe of the best-known and most popular* .policemen in Dunedin. Ho joined the Armed Constabulary in the troubled-.times, of 1881, at Taranaki, and Wi>3"pre3cnt in tho same year at tie Parihaka Pa, and at the capture «* Tβ Whiti, Tobii, Titikowaru, and otner Slaoir s who figure in the nagos of >'ew. Zealand history. In 1889 ne was transferred to the police force, at the opening of the Dunedin Exhibition. J'or a number of years ho was one of the best-known constables in Dunedin. Hβ left'the force, and bocc.no gucccsgivoly, owner of tho Scotia and Pier ~Hotels,: and also of tho Green Island * Hotel," Which was his property at tho t'roeof his death. Latterly he had lirea a■ retired life at JUusselburgh. He , married fairly latq in life, and leaves » widoff, but no family.
