Bates, Government Meteorologist, supplied the following weather summary aud forecast at 5 p.m. yesterday:— Unsettled and. showery conditions have ruled in all tho western, districts, and «Q ■ the- southern portion of the South Island, but in the East Coast districts fair to cloudy weather was experienced on Saturday and Sunday. The barometer baa been unsteady, and westerly and • couth-westerly winds havo prevailed, strong to gale in parts. . Present indications are for unsettled, coW, and elnwery weather, and strong southerly winds generally. The baromoter is likely >o rise high everywhere.
