CANTERBURY REFEREES' ASSOCIATION.
, A meeting of tho Cantorburv Referees Association was heid last evening, Mr H. b. Hiddloatone presiding over a good attendance of .members. Tbe Wellington Eugby Referees' AjsaociAtion (now defunct) wrote recommending Mr E. T. Bailey for msmbe-rship. Mr Bailey wia unanimously elected. Messrs Caroll and Ruseoty were elected membeca of the Asaociation. Tbo new Wellington Referees* Association wrote requesting that tbe Canterbury Association should second tho nomination by the Auckland Association of the new Association to the New Zealand Beferees' Association. Thi3 waa unanimously agreed to. Tho chairman said that so far nothing definite had been arranged in connexion with tho annual match with tho Wellington referees owing to the recent trouble there. It was ■ suggested that a match bo played with the Otago referees ac a curtain-raiser to tbe Canterbury-Otago interprovincial match,, but it was decided to endeavour to arrange the Wellington fixture, if possible, before any othetr "U*rang«nent3 were made. The annual reunion would be held on Saturday, August 22nd. The ■ secretary reported that the Rugby Union bad, aa usual, given £3' Ss towards I the reunion, and it was docided to write I thanking. tho Union for its donation.
