EFFECT OF DECLARATION IN LONDON.
CROWDS IN FLEET STREET AND DOWNING STREET.
NORTH SEA FISHING FLEET RECALLED.
LONDON, August 2. Germany's declaration was quietly received in London. A few knots of Germans and Frenchmen in tho streets sang the "Watch on tho Rhine,'-! and "The Marseillaise." Two Germans, one carrying an unsheathed sword, provokod a demonstration of hooting and jeering till the polico intervened. Crowds throng Fleet street, awaiting the war news of the Cabinet meeting, which broke up at eight o'clock this evoning. A censorship has been imposed on telegrams and cablegrams. The Orient Lino have ordered the steamer Ottawa to await instructions at Gibraltar, and have similarly ordered tho Ostarley *o wait at Port Said. The result of the Cabinet deliberations is unknown, it is understood Mr Asquith will announce England's atti- <!-> in the Commons to-morrow. Enormous crowds congregated in Downing street. Sir Edward Grey received a tremendous ovation on leaving the Cabinet meeting. Tho newspaper editions all day and night are being eagerly bought. An enormous gathering attended a pro-neutrality meeting in Trafalgar square. Messrs Keir Hardie and Henderson. Labour M.P. h, delivered speeches protesting against entering on a war in which England had no interest. There wero targe congregations et all tho churches, where prayers for peace were delivered. A steamer has left Hull to recall tho Xorth Sea fishing fleet.
