Sydenham lacked off against the sun, a quick return by O'Keefo taking play to the Sydenham twentyfive. Tnere H. Shanks had a shot at goal from a penalty, in which he was successful—2 to nil. Bad passing by the Black and Greens let their opponents away. Leader took tho pass, and cent it on to Smythe, who scored a very easy try. Smytho was unsuccessful witii the kick. Sydenham 3, Linwood 2. Sydenham indulged in some stylish passing, King, Robertson, and Smytho being"prominciit. Smythe succeeded in scoring, but tho kick at goal failed. Sydenham 6, Linwood 2. Play was kept in Sydenham .twenty-five, and R. Shanks succeeded' in kicking a beautiful goal. Linwood7, Sydenham 6. Loose play followed until tho call of half-time. On resuming play, Sydenham opened by making the pace eovere. Robertson, Smythe., aiid Loader ■wore prominent in a passing bout, in which Smythe showed up to advantage, ending up in forcing his ■way over tho line. ,Tho"kick at foal failed. Sydenham 9, Liuwood 7. Koskella ran un the lino, anu passed on to McGeo, whose speed enabled him to beat tho opposing backs. Morris's kick at goal failed. Linwood 10, Sydenham 9. Sydenham's backs started another passing rush, but the tackling was suro, and play was kept near half-way. Very rapid passing rushes took place, Linwood nearly always having a slight advantage. Bussell obtained from the scrum, and transferred to Smythe, who passed to Robertson, who cut across and scored a well-deserved try. Smith kicked the goal. Sydenham 14, Linwood 10. A few moments later King scored, and Smythe was succe-ssful with the kick. Sydenham 19, Linwood 10. Time was called a few minutes later. Mr C Pcarco was referee.
