AMELANCHIER BOTRYAPIUM.

(The Canadian Juneberry.) This is one of the best of the spring flowering shrubs coming into bloom in September. It is covered from top to baso with the whitest of flowers, daintily arranged in trusses, at the end of every branch. In summer the plant is covered with 6mall fruits, these of a most lovely flavour when dead ripe, and so tempting to the birds, that unless protected the trees are stripped early. The beauty of this shrub is greatest in the autumn, when the leaves turn to a brilliant scarlet, somo with a flush of yellow through the face. The plant attains a height of 6ft to Bft. _ It is a native of North America, and is found over a wide area in the neighbourhood of New' Brunswick.
