Friday Evening The grain market is very quiet at the present time. There is no wheat changing hands, and in view of the large quantities of Australian flour that are being landed in the Dominion the demand for wheat has quietened down. Alost of tho A grade oats now appear to have changed hands, and there is little business doing in this cereal. A fairly large quantity will he shipped to English ports by the Durham and Rimutakai and there may be small parcels sent to London. Barley is practically unsaleable. A line of very prime seed barley recently changed hands at 3s 6d, but good malting samples are going begging at 2s 6d. The potato market has weakened farther in consequence of the trade being overdone for the present. Sales are now difficult to effect at £2 10s to £3 15s at country stations. Tha undermentioned are the prices paid to farmers at country stations, free of commission, sacks extra, excepting where otherwise stated:— "Wheat—Tuscan, 3s 7d to 3s 8d; Hunter's, 3s 8d to 3s 9d; Pearl, 3s 9d to 3s 10d; fowl wheat, 3s 4d to 3s 6d. Oats—Algerian, Is 7d to Is 8d: Danish. Is 6d; Duns. Is 7d to Is Sd: Gartons, Is 6d to Is Sd. j Barley—Prime malting (nominal). j

Ryegrass—2s 6d to 2s 9d for best samples. Cocksfoot—Bright and heavy samples, up to 4Jd: average, 3d to 3sd. White Clover—9d to lOd. Red Clover—7d to 7J?d. Flour—£lo per ton; 1001b bags, £10 10s; 501b bags, £10 15s; 251b bags, £11. Bran—£4 local. Pollard—£6 per ton. Oatmeal—£l2 per ton. Oatsheaf Chaff—£2 5s for good samples. Onions—£3 Ins to £4. Potatoes—£2 10s to £2 los (nominal). Peas—Partridge, 3s 9d to 4s; Blue Imperial (nominal), 3s 6d; Blue Prussians (nominal), 3s.
