TIMARU MARKETS.
(SPECIAL TO "THE PRESS.") TIMARU, Juno 5. Business on the local grain and produce markets is still somewhat restricted, but several sales of wheat wero mado to-day, Tuscan changing hands at 3s 9d, Red Chaff at 3s lOd and Velvet at 4s and 4s Id for parcels of prime milling quality, all delivered Timaru. Fowl wheat is quoted at 3 S lOd to 3s Ud f.o.b. s.i. The everincreasing use of the motor, is blamed for the oat market being so neglected as it is. A few parcels of Gartons have changed hands during the week at Is 8d to Is 9d, but business generally in this cereal is very slack. A considerable quantity is being shipped Home this week. One steamer is taking 5000 sacks for West of England ports, and another is loading oats and peas for Hull. Newcastle, and London, this being the first shipment to go direct from Timaru to Hull and Newcastle. Oatsheaf chaff is fetching £2 5s to £2 10s per ton on trucks, eacks extra. Tho potato market is not very animated, aud the sales that are being made are on the basis of £3 5s to £3 12s 6d, country stations, sacks extra.
