I Happened to he returning homo with two children on Monday, June Ist, in a nird-cage carriage. At Rangiora the guard requested mc move into another compiuTment, as a party of men, including at leait one prominent auctioneer, wanted my seats. They'departed at Amborley, so I was able to return to my original compartment, now veiy smoky. 1 may add that though two of these gentlemen entered the compartment before I was out, none of them ottereil to assist in moving ray belongmps, but one kindly suggested that influence was a good asset upon 'such days.—Yours etc.,
