AMERICAN EXPEDITION SUGGESTED. (By Cable. —Prea* Aa»oci».tlon.— Oopyrlsht-l NEW YORK, Juno 3. Comma nde.r Peary suggests that Captain Robert Bartlett should bo despatched on a- South Polo expedition under American auspices. Ho has received information that Captain Bartlett brought a number of tho crew of the lost Karluk safely to Wrangel Island. Ho made a Jons and trying journey to obtain relief for them, and a proper recognition of his services in Arctic oxploration would bo to fit out an American expedition and placo him in charge.
Bartlett was Peary's associate in , his Arctic explorations.
