FARMERS' FIRE INSURANCE.

QUESTION OF ACCIDENT RATES

(rnzss association* tbi-ecjiam.) DUNEDIN, Juno 4. The annual meeting of the Mutual Fire Insurance Association of the Otago Fanners' Union was held this morning. The directors recorded another successful year. Total insurances at tr.e balance'date wore £137,102, a substantial increase on the previous year. There was a long discussion as to the independence, or interdependence of the fire and accident branches, during which it was stated that accident risks were being taken by insurance companies at rates which it was doubtful if a mutual system could entertain. That had not been the case with firo risks. It was decided that the matter be left over until after tho Wellington Conference.
