BALL MAKERS' STRIKE.
(FnOU OTO OWN CORRESPO.VDENT.) LONDON, April 24. Three hundred men employed at Messrs Wisden's cricket-ball manufactory at are on strike, and it is possible that there will be an increase in the price ot tho balls. ■'Strange as it may appear," says Mr Wisden-Luff, "I am quite in sympathy with the men's demands lor an increase of 5s ncr dozen bails. Their present pay, which hardly averages ___ "per week, is quite inadequate for the Teally skilled work tiiey do, but the price the trade pays will not permit our acceding to theso demands. Were we to do bo from May next, when we ought to start next season's supplies, until these latter had been completed bur loss would amount to about i.2000." Mr Wi'den-Luff expressed the opinion that tho only way out of the difficulty was a rise in the price to tho retail'trade for the best-grade balls.
