MB A. M. MYERS, M_P.. ENTERTAINED. (FROM OOE OWN CORJ___.POKD_.\'T.. LONDON, April 24. Mr A, M. Myers, M.P., who loft for home to-day, via America, was entertained by' bis co-religionists in tho form of tho Maccaboan Club on Monday evening. Mr H. H H_ddin_toiu, K.C., presided, and amongst tho company were Lord Eramott, Sir John Anderson, Mr 1. Zanswill, Mr T. Mackenzie, and the acting-J__{.h Commissioner for Canada (Mr W. L, Griffith). Tiio chairman eulogised the public services and attainments of the guest. Mr Myers, in replying/contended that in all parts of the Empire, Jew. had always recognised thoir ° obligations, and endeavoured to discharge their duties. He was the third of them to sh in the Now Zealand Legislature, the others being Sir Julius Vogel and Mr Shrimski. Mr Myers disclosed incidentally the fact that Lord Emmott had the other day beaten him at golf at five up and four to play. Sir Stuart Samuel spoke of the freedom enjoyed by Jews under the British flag as compared with that of Russia. . -"Mr Mackenzie predicted a great fntnre for Mr Myers in New Zealand. While extending the fullest tolerance to the Jewish people, tho Empire bad benefited greatly by the great intellects tho race had contributed to ita development. 'Mr Zangwil! referred to Mr Myers aa "The Jewish Asquith—Asquith, tho War Mitti-tor, 1 - and added that the display of administrative gifts by Jews implied potentialities of leadership for that historic movement when they would havo a country of their own. "Mr Myers may not be aware," he Added, "of that asniration of mine." "Oh, yes," replied Mr Mvers laughing. "I read the 'Jewish Chronicle.' "
