c _ CATTLE SCARCE IN QUEENSLAND. (By Cable.—Press Asaaeistion.—Copyright' BRISBANE. June 3. Evidence given beforo the Abattoirs Commission showed that cattle were becoming scarcer in Queensland every year. Competition was much keener, and increased prices were ruling.

Mr Hood, formerly president of the Pastoralists' Association, replying to questions, said that ho did not fear American competition. He thought the majority of the pastoralists welcomed the Americans opening hero. It meant moro competition and better prices. ■ '■ , '
